Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, announced the endorsement of State Representative Jen Schultz running for election in 2022 to represent Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“Minnesotans need a leader in the U.S. House who will work for them and Jen Schultz is that leader,” said Alyse Maye Quade, Political Director of Women Winning. “During her time in the Minnesota House, Jen has delivered for Minnesotans – from increasing access to affordable health care to championing legislation for higher wages to taking action on climate change. Jen has the vision, structure, and energized support to win in November and Women Winning is proud to be alongside her.”

Jen Schultz has served in the Minnesota House of Representatives for eight years, representing District 7A. She currently serves as Chair of the Human Services Finance Committee and serves on the Taxes, Ways & Means, Health Finance, Redistricting, and Tax Expenditures Committees. Schultz has been a champion for affordable health care, fair taxation, and the protection of vulnerable adults. As a resident of Duluth and professor at University of Minnesota-Duluth, she sees and understands firsthand the issues most important to Minnesotans in the Eighth District: access to affordable health care and education, invest in broadband and infrastructure projects, increase jobs throughout the district, better affordable housing, and act on climate change.

“Time and time again, I hear from Minnesotans that they want a leader in Washington who will fight for those struggling to make ends meet. I have the record of doing that at the State Capitol and I am eager to get things done for Minnesotans in Congress. I’m proud to have Women Winning’s endorsement and to partner together as I work to earn the support of Minnesota’s Eighth Congressional District. As reproductive rights continue to be attacked, I remain committed to being a fierce advocate for reproductive health care,” said Schultz.

Women Winning has endorsed more than 80 pro-choice women running for office across Minnesota in 2022, from the Minnesota House and Senate to Lieutenant Governor. The organization’s targeted endorsement program centers on competitive districts for pro-choice women candidates with the goal of electing a truly representative government and creating a more equitable Minnesota.

Women Winning’s 2022 electoral goals include protecting Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, U.S. Representative Angie Craig, and Auditor Julie Blaha; protecting and expanding hard-fought 2018 and 2020 wins in the Minnesota House of Representatives; flipping the anti-choice Minnesota Senate; and electing a pro-choice majority to the Minnesota House. Women Winning will make additional endorsements in 2022 and will continue organizing to ensure reproductive rights are protected by electing pro-choice women win up and down the ballot in the August 9th Primary and the November 8th General Election.
