Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, announced the endorsement of nineteen additional pro-choice women running for the Minnesota Legislature in 2022.

“With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, there has never been a more important time to establish a pro-choice majority in the Minnesota Legislature,” said Emma McBride, Women Winning Political Director. “We are proud to endorse nineteen exceptional leaders who will flip the anti-choice Minnesota House and Senate and fiercely defend and expand abortion access here in Minnesota.”

Women Winning is proud to endorse seven additional pro-choice women running for Minnesota Senate:

Victoria Ann Bird, Minnesota Senate District 28
Alissa Brickman, Minnesota Senate District 13
Suzanne Cekalla, Minnesota Senate District 10
Kate Falvey, Minnesota Senate District 19
Anita Gaul, Minnesota Senate District 15
Kim Kotonias McLaughlin, Minnesota Senate District 7
Emy Minzel, Minnesota Senate District 27

Women Winning is proud to endorse twelve additional pro-choice women running for Minnesota House of Representatives:

Edie Barrett, Minnesota House District 12A
Sally Boos, Minnesota House District 06B
Sonja Buckmeier, Minnesota House District 30A
Elise Diesslin, Minnesota House District 20B
Nancy Jost, Minnesota House District 09A
Katie Malchow, Minnesota House District 28B
Betsy O’Berry, Minnesota House District 31A
Andrea Robinson, Minnesota House District 13A
Marcia Stapleton, Minnesota House District 22B
Laurel Stinson, Minnesota House District 20A
Carolyn Treadway, Minnesota House District 19A
Marisa Ulmen, Minnesota House District 22A

Women Winning makes endorsements throughout the year, with these nineteen endorsements bringing a total of one-hundred endorsements so far this cycle of pro-choice women running for the Minnesota Legislature, statewide, or for Congress in Minnesota. The organization’s targeted endorsement program centers on pro-choice women candidates with the goal of electing a truly representative government and creating a more equitable Minnesota.

There is not a pro-choice majority in the Minnesota House or Senate and, with the right to an abortion no longer protected at the federal level, there has never been a more important time to elect pro-choice majorities in Minnesota. While abortion is still legal in Minnesota, it is not in many states across the country – including states in the Midwest. We must take action now to elect relentlessly pro-choice leaders here in Minnesota.

Women Winning’s 2022 electoral goals include protecting Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, U.S. Representative Angie Craig, and Auditor Julie Blaha; flipping the anti-choice Minnesota Senate; and electing a pro-choice majority to the Minnesota House. Women Winning will make additional endorsements in 2022 and will continue organizing to ensure reproductive rights are protected by electing pro-choice women win up and down the ballot in the August 9th Primary and the November 8th General Election.
