Saint Paul, Minn. (November 21, 2023) – Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, announced the endorsement of pro-choice champion Representative Betty McCollum for Congress in Minnesota U.S. House District 4.
“As we continue our mission to elect pro-choice women at all levels of government, especially in the aftermath of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, we need to elect women that we know will stand up and fight for Minnesotans,” said Nevada Littlewolf, Executive Director of Women Winning. “Representative McCollum’s long standing work towards protecting access to abortion throughout her career–including her support for the Right to Contraception Act and the Women’s Health Protection Act–make us proud to endorse her again. We look forward to continuing our partnership with her and as she continues her fight to protect reproductive rights and works to codify Roe v. Wade into law in Washington.”

Betty McCollum was elected to Congress in 2000, becoming only the second woman to be elected to federal office from Minnesota in 142 years. Over her career representing Minnesota’s Fourth Congressional District, Congresswoman McCollum has been a champion for environmental protection, universal health care and reproductive freedom, quality education, and human rights – at home and abroad. Rep. McCollum is a senior member of the House Appropriations Committee where she serves as the ranking Democrat on the Defense subcommittee and as a member of the Interior-Environment subcommittee. Betty McCollum, a former educator, is the mother of two adult children and a proud grandmother of two grandsons. Betty lives in St. Paul, Minnesota.
Women Winning has been working for more than 40 years to elect pro-choice women to all levels of public office, from park board to President of the United States. In that time, Women Winning has raised and contributed millions of dollars to pro-choice women’s campaigns, endorsed thousands of candidates, and has more than tripled the number of pro-choice women elected officials in Minnesota. The organization’s targeted endorsement program centers on competitive districts for pro-choice women candidates with the goal of electing a truly representative government and creating a more equitable Minnesota.
Women Winning will make additional federal endorsements in 2023 and will continue organizing to ensure reproductive rights are protected by electing pro-choice women up and down the ballot.
