Saint Paul, Minn. (April 15, 2025) – Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, announced its 43rd Annual Luncheon, featuring the Honorable Deb Haaland, former Secretary of the Interior, and candidate for Governor of New Mexico. The event will be held on Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Renaissance Minneapolis Hotel, The Depot.
“We are honored to welcome former Secretary Haaland to Minnesota for Women Winning’s 43rd Annual Luncheon,” said Nevada Littlewolf, Executive Director of Women Winning.
“Secretary Haaland is a trailblazer and a change maker – a member of the Pueblo of Laguna, one of the first Native women elected to Congress, and the first Native person to serve as a Cabinet Secretary. Through her groundbreaking leadership, she has created space for future generations and helped build a democracy that is truly representative of all people. A fierce champion of reproductive rights, Secretary Haaland leads with courage, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the bodily autonomy of all Americans. Women Winning is thrilled to celebrate her work and share her powerful call to action as our 43rd Annual Luncheon speaker.”
Deb Haaland is a fierce leader — repeatedly breaking down barriers for future generations. A 35th generation New Mexican who organized for President Obama and led the New Mexico State Democratic Party, she made an unprecedented run and win as one of the first Native women to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives and then made history when she was appointed to serve as Secretary of the Interior.
In all of her roles, her prolific leadership led to accomplishments that make the lives of working families better. She brings her personal experience as a military kid, a single mom, and a Pueblo woman to stand up for working families, Native and underserved communities, and to address the climate crisis.
The Women Winning Annual Luncheon brings together our communities to activate pro-choice campaign operatives, candidates, and elected officials who are committed to reproductive health, rights and justice, and working to protect the safety, dignity and bodily autonomy of Minnesotans. The event celebrates current and former pro-choice women elected officials and candidates, and features keynote remarks from a national leader on women’s rights. Past Women Winning Annual Luncheon speakers include Senator Laphonza Butler (2024), Dr. Loretta Ross (2023), Congresswoman Maxine Waters (2019), Secretary Madeleine Albright (2016), and Professor Anita Hill (2012).
