Women Winning Endorses Heather Edelson for Hennepin County Commissioner in District 6

Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, announced the endorsement of Heather Edelson for Hennepin County Commissioner in the upcoming District 6 Special Election.

Saint Paul, Minn. (May 10, 2024) – Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s  political organization, announced the endorsement of Heather Edelson for Hennepin County Commissioner in the upcoming District 6 Special Election.

“Heather Edelson has been an incredible advocate for reproductive freedom in the Minnesota House since she was first elected in 2018. Heather served as a critical vote for the passage of landmark legislation like the PRO Act and PAC Act, and has worked tirelessly on numerous issues including increasing long term care, disability, and mental health funding while in office,” said Britta Moen, Women Winning Political Director. “We are proud to stand with her as she continues this exceptional legacy of work on the Hennepin County Board!”

Heather Edelson is a current State Representative that represents Edina and a portion of Bloomington. Heather was elected to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2018 and serves on Ways and Means, Environment, Human Service Policy and Education Finance Committees. Prior to her work in the House, she was a mental health therapist.

Women Winning has been working for more than 40 years to elect pro-choice women to all levels of public office, from park board to President of the United States. In that time, Women Winning has raised and contributed millions of dollars to campaigns, endorsed thousands of candidates, and has more than tripled the number of pro-choice women elected officials in Minnesota. The organization’s targeted endorsement program centers on competitive districts for pro-choice candidates with the goal of electing a truly representative government and creating a more equitable Minnesota.

Women Winning will make additional endorsements in 2024 and will continue organizing to ensure reproductive rights are protected by electing pro-choice women up and down the ballot.
