Saint Paul, Minn. (June 7, 2024) – Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, announced the endorsement of Lorrie Janatopoulos for the Minnesota House of Representatives in District 7B.
“Extremist, anti-choice politicians have been trying to sink their teeth into the Iron Range for years. We’re not giving it to them. The people of Northeastern Minnesota deserve a champion who will fight for them. Lorrie stands for an individual’s freedom to make their own decisions about their own bodies.” said Britta Moen, Women Winning Political Director. “Lorrie’s years of public service with the State of Minnesota, her extensive community and organizational work, and her roots on the Range, make her the perfect candidate to represent the people of 7B. We are elated to stand beside her!”
Lorrie Janatopoulos is a lifelong resident of Northeastern Minnesota, active in public work her entire career with over three decades of experience in workforce and community development. Lorrie has served as a Director at the Department of Employment and Economic Development, as well as the Arrowhead Economic Opportunity Agency. Throughout her career she has championed economic development, affordable housing, and protecting the civil and human rights of all Minnesotans. Lorrie holds a Master of Public Affairs from the Humphrey School at the University of Minnesota, was a 2016 Bush Fellow, and named by the AARP as a “50 over 50 Disruptor” for her fearless work fighting for the Range.
Women Winning has been working for more than 40 years to elect pro-choice women to all levels of public office, from park board to President of the United States. In that time, Women Winning has raised and contributed millions of dollars to campaigns, endorsed thousands of candidates, and has more than tripled the number of pro-choice women elected officials in Minnesota. The organization’s targeted endorsement program centers on competitive districts for pro-choice candidates with the goal of electing a truly representative government and creating a more equitable Minnesota.
Women Winning will make additional endorsements in 2024 and will continue organizing to ensure reproductive rights are protected by electing pro-choice women up and down the ballot.
