Saint Paul, Minn. (May 8, 2024) – Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, announced the endorsement of pro-choice champion Jeanne Hendricks for Congress in Minnesota U.S. House District 6.
“Jeanne Hendricks has spent decades standing up for the healthcare needs of patients as a Nurse Anesthetist. Because of this important work, she is someone who understands the dire need for accessible reproductive care for all Minnesotans. While Tom Emmer continues to sow strife and division among people in Minnesota’s 6th, and proudly aims to deny them access to the healthcare they need, Jeanne stands in deep contrast. While anti-choice hacks send junk science and Trump wannabes to Congress–we send healthcare professionals,” said Nevada Littlewolf, Women Winning Executive Director. “We are elated to be a part of the team helping send Jeanne to Washington to fight for the personal freedom and bodily autonomy that Minnesotans overwhelmingly support.”
“Having been a frontline healthcare worker for thirty years, I have witnessed the importance of women being given the freedom to determine the course of their life by making their own reproductive healthcare decisions,” said Hendricks. “Recent Supreme Court and state legislative decisions have set women’s reproductive rights back fifty years. I am grateful to be endorsed by Women Winning and align with their vision of advancing women’s rights. I look forward to fighting for these rights in Congress.”
Jeanne Hendricks has spent most of her career in healthcare working as a Nurse Anesthetist, practicing anesthesia in Minnesota for 31 years. Jeanne is a mother to two adult children who were born and raised in Minnesota. The chaos and disinformation of the Trump Presidency motivated Jeanne to enter the political arena. She previously ran in 2022 against Republican incumbent Tom Emmer. Jeanne is running for the same congressional seat a second time in 2024 and is building on recognition and momentum she established in CD-6 during her previous run. Women’s reproductive rights, addressing climate change, common sense gun safety and immigration reform are front and center in Jeanne’s campaign.
Women Winning has been working for more than 40 years to elect pro-choice women to all levels of public office, from park board to President of the United States. In that time, Women Winning has raised and contributed millions of dollars to pro-choice women’s campaigns, endorsed thousands of candidates, and has more than tripled the number of pro-choice women elected officials in Minnesota. The organization’s targeted endorsement program centers on competitive districts for pro-choice women candidates with the goal of electing a truly representative government and creating a more equitable Minnesota.
Women Winning will make additional endorsements in 2024 and will continue organizing to ensure reproductive rights are protected by electing pro-choice women up and down the ballot.
