Women Winning

What motivated you to run for office? Why was receiving Women Winning’s endorsement important to you and your campaign?

Kelly Miller

I am running for Ramsey County Commissioner because county services play a vital role in maintaining a safe, healthy, and thriving community, addressing the diverse needs of residents, and enhancing the overall quality of life. I have experienced or seen firsthand how policy and county services affect people, people of all socioeconomic status. I believe that representation matters, our communities are diverse and our local government should reflect that. If elected, I would be the first Native American to serve as a Ramsey County Commissioner.

Women Winning’s endorsement is significant to my campaign because it aligns with my commitment to gender equity and reproductive rights. When I made the decision to run, it was Women Winning who I went to for training, support, and guidance. Their support not only strengthens my credibility with women voters but also connects me to a powerful network of resources and advocates. As a candidate who would make history on the Ramsey County Board, this endorsement highlights the importance of representation and diversity in leadership.

What does Reproductive Justice mean to you? What are the most pressing reproductive justice issues facing your district?

Kelly Miller

To me, Reproductive Justice means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the right and the resources to make decisions about their own bodies, health, and family life. This goes beyond access to reproductive healthcare; it includes addressing the social, economic, and environmental factors that affect people's ability to make those choices freely and safely.
In my district, some of the most pressing Reproductive Justice issues include ensuring access to comprehensive reproductive healthcare, including abortion services, for those who need it. There's also a critical need to address disparities in maternal and infant health, particularly among communities of color. Additionally, economic barriers, like lack of affordable childcare and housing, directly impact the ability of individuals and families to exercise their reproductive rights. Addressing these interconnected issues is essential to advancing true Reproductive Justice in our community.

What distinguishes you as a leader? What do you most want voters to know about how you will represent them?

Kelly Miller

What distinguishes me as a leader is my deep-rooted commitment to the community and my ability to bring people together to address complex issues. I have a proven track record of advocating for the needs of our community, especially those who are often overlooked or marginalized. My leadership is defined by listening, understanding diverse perspectives, and working collaboratively to find solutions that benefit everyone.

What I want voters to know most is that I will represent them with integrity, transparency, and a relentless dedication to making our district a better place for all. I’m not just running to hold a position—I’m running to make a tangible, positive impact on the lives of those I serve.
