What motivated you to run for office? Why was receiving Women Winning’s endorsement important to you and your campaign?

Kirsten Buscher

I was motivated to run for office because I believe in the power of community-driven leadership and want to ensure that our local government remains transparent, accountable, and reflective of the people it serves. Women Winning’s endorsement is particularly meaningful to me because it represents the values of gender equity, which is critical to a healthy and inclusive society. Their support validates my commitment to policies that uplift women and families, and it empowers my campaign to champion the issues that matter most to our community.

What does Reproductive Justice mean to you? What are the most pressing reproductive justice issues facing your district?

Kirsten Buscher

Reproductive Justice means ensuring that all people have the right to make decisions about their own bodies, families, and futures without political or economic barriers. It goes beyond access to abortion, encompassing a broad spectrum of issues such as affordable healthcare, access to contraception, and support for families. In my district, the most pressing Reproductive Justice issues include access to affordable healthcare and childcare, ensuring that women and families have the resources and support they need to thrive.

I pride myself on being approachable, solutions-oriented, and dedicated to finding common ground. Voters should know that I will always put their needs and values first, work tirelessly to maintain transparency, and ensure that they are at the forefront of every decision I make. My goal is to foster a community-focused environment where everyone’s voice is respected.

When I reflect on the things that we passed, and the number of bills that affect our community so greatly, it’s not only an honor and a privilege — it’s remarkable what happens when people who care so deeply come together and are honest and passionate about the work.

To me, Reproductive Justice means ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, has the right and the resources to make decisions about their own bodies, health, and family life.
