In St. Paul’s 170 year history, the number of men on its city council has far exceeded the number of women. Until recently, no more than 3 women at a time had served on the council, with 50% representation only achieved for the first time in 2018.

Today, Women Winning, Minnesota’s largest women’s political organization, is proud to announce that Saint Paul has elected the first all women, pro-choice City Council.

In the 2023 election, Minnesotans sent a clear message about their values and about who they trust to govern at a local level. We are proud to announce a fantastic breadth of pro-choice victories across Minnesota!
